Have you ever given thought to how important a name is? Without them, we would be unable to make clarity of people, places, or things. Even God himself has a love for names. In the Holy Bible, God reveals names of Himself. He wants us to know Him and His character. In the first book, Genesis, God begins with an explanation of who He is. One of the first being Elohim (pronounced el-o-heem). This declaration describes Him as the all- powerful creator of our universe and all things in it. Genesis 2:20 details the beginning of names. God presented “living creatures” to Adam and he named them. From that time until now, every life carries a name and a message.

As unique as its ministry, so it is with its name, First Love on Main (FLOM). Birthed from the hearts of Dr. Dean Haun and First Baptist Church of Morristown. Yet, inspired from the heart of God, Elohim, FLOM was strategically planned, empowered and set in motion. The need for a free dental clinic was planted as an idea. The location came as a gift to bring fruition to that idea. Lastly, this creation needed a name. As born-again believers, Jesus Christ must be our first love! When He is, that love carries over to help others. The hearts of these believers desired to express God’s love giving all glory and adoration for its success to Him. Because these actions thrill the heart of the creator, He gives life to our ideas and plans as he chooses. Thus, Gods love began to grow and the clinic, First Love on Main Street had begun. Today, FLOM is a thriving community care clinic meeting medical and dental needs. In 2024, serving over 720 patients.

So, what’s in a name? When left in the hands of our creator, Elohim, the opportunities are endless!

Think about: Has God possibly sparked an idea in your mind that He would love to create with you? Pray and ask Him to lead the way. Next, be ready!!
