249. If your counting dollars, that may or may not seem like a lot of money. If your counting years, that probably seems like a lot. As Americans this July, we celebrate our 249th birthday! Thinking back to our early beginnings, brave settlers on the Mayflower carried 102 Pilgrams and 30 crew to Plymouth Rock settlement. Towns and Relationships moved us forward and continues today. Now, we Americans number an estimated 347 million people. We have elected 47 Presidents within this time and grown from 13 colonies to 50 states. Americans have endured many hardships yet experienced great success’ during our years of growth. Thankfully, we continually seem to overcome.
However, power struggles and rumors of wars may introduce worry or fear. In the Holy Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14 reads:
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
It is only through Jesus Christ that we can truly overcome the trials of this life and find the peace of life hereafter. Just as those first Pilgrams risked everything for hopeful peace. On July 5, 2025 we will look forward to celebrating 250 years of America, but will we still be looking for peace? I am afraid so unless we heed the scripture written above. As a nation and individually, lets seek Jesus. In doing so we can know peace because without him there will be no peace.
Think abouts:
This verse from the Bible gives us a step-by-step plan to know peace. Do you see it as you read?
Most of us would quickly know that the 9/11 tragedy was one of our worst hardships. What would you list as one of our greatest success’?
